Navigation

A foggy moon's exterior becomes difficult to navigate due to a thick fog. It becomes hard to see more than a few meters ahead of ones' self. Entities who are unable to see through fog cannot see more than 30 units (23 m). (As of Version 49, this is all outdoor entities.)

Memorizing ways to get around each moon's landing area is crucial to not getting lost. With someone on the ship, the loud horn ship upgrade or ordering items for delivery can help lost crew mates find their way back, as can activating the teleporter. A budget alternative to the loud horn is a scrap airhorn, although they can't be heard from as far away and will also attract eyeless dogs to the holder. If lost crew mates are in radio communication with someone in the ship (either by Walkie-talkie or signal translator), they can be directed back using the corner arrow on the main monitor. The Echo Scanner can also help when a lost crew mate comes within 50 m of the ship or the main entrance.

85-Rend, 7-Dine and 8-Titan are in perpetual blizzard, so sight conditions are already poor on those moons. Foggy weather only makes it a bit worse.

Strategy: Familiarize yourself with the moon. Know its layout, where to walk, where to not. Eyesight is only needed to gather info of your surroundings, so if you have enough previously gathered, there's no need.
